This Second Love installation engages with the world of avatars and questions of on-line identity. In Second Life, for example, do our virtual selves (preferred image) that we have carefully constructed in fact precede our actual self image we are born with in the so called real world?

Or does our real self live somewhere in between or across the on-line and off-line world borders?

The left hand monitor shows a cross-dissolving stream of avatars used in Second Life.

The right hand monitor shows a pixelated stream of actual photographic mugshots that people upload to various on-line sites.

The wall mounted text represents a continuous printout list of on-line handles or names that people have choosen to identify themselves to others in various virtual communities.
